Year 4 Roman Day
ear 4 have been lucky enough to enjoy both a Roman Day and an athletics morning all in the last week. On Thursday 29th January, we were greeted by our visiting Centurion ‘Lucius’ in his camp and were told all about life as a Roman soldier. We took part in several activities, including: trying on armour, getting hands on with typical Roman chores, such as scrubbing armour, playing games like knucklebones and even cleaning ourselves with olive oil. In the afternoon we studied replicas of Roman artefacts, tried Roman food which included lentils, dill and dried bread and learned to march like real Roman soldiers against a barrage of Celtic missiles!
